For more than 14 years, Reverend Ophelia Newton Willams has proven to be a dedicated and faithful member of Palma Ceia Baptist Church. She was superintendent of Sunday School from 1978 – 1981. As Minister of Christian Education, she was responsible for building a strong and vital evangelism ministry. Her outstanding work was instrumental in the church gaining a national reputation for its evangelism ministry and recognition by the Southern Baptist Convention. Reverend Williams has the distinction of being the second woman to be ordained by Pastor Bennett. She was also the foreign missionary serving Ghana, West Africa where she received a certificate of honor for her outstanding witnessing by the president of the Ghana Ministry. Reverend Williams was the founder and pastor of Nation Interfaith Ministry in Union City, California. She and her husband, Johnny, have been married since 1955. They have three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
