The Goal of Salvation

Romans 8:29 NIV

America celebrates Independence Day not on the day the war for independence was won, but on the day the colonists declared their intention to live free.

Salvation is similar. We need not wait until Christ finishes His redeeming work on us. We can celebrate the joys of salvation even now, before this work is completed. The goal of this salvation as determined by God is to make us all Christlike.

Therefore, as Christians, we should look forward to bearing the character of Christ even in the here and now.
